SAIL AWAY OF THE JACKET FOR THE GAS PLATFORM IN ANGOLA COMPLETED
Gruppo Antonini has completed the sail-away of the 95-meter, 2,500-ton Jacket for the Maboqueiro project in Angola.
Gruppo Antonini has recently reached a major milestone in the Maboqueiro gas platform project with the completion of the Sail Away of the jacket destined for the site in Angola.
The structure, 95 meters long and weighing 2,500 tons, has departed from the shipyard in Italy and will cross the sea aboard an ocean-going tug. Traveling at a speed of 6–8 knots, the structure will reach approximately 12 miles off the Angolan coast, where it will be submerged and secured to the seabed, ready to perform its crucial role in gas extraction.
The Sail Away operation marks the transfer of the completed structure from the construction yard to the offshore site, representing a key phase of a complex project like the Maboqueiro platform. Once in its final position, the structure will be immersed in water to achieve a vertical orientation and anchored to the seabed using an advanced pile-driving system.
This phase, beyond being a technical achievement, is the result of meticulous coordination between engineering, logistics, and safety teams. The transport and installation process requires careful planning to ensure that each step proceeds smoothly, meeting all technical requirements and timelines.
Once installed, the jacket will be ready to support gas extraction operations, contributing significantly to the development and growth of Angola’s energy sector.
