GRUPPO ANTONINI SUPPORTS CULTURE: THE BARGE CLAUDIO I BECOMES A FLOATING STAGE FOR SIMON BOCCANEGRA IN FRONT OF THE AMERIGO VESPUCCI
We are honored to have contributed to such a significant initiative for the city of La Spezia. Our barge Claudio I hosted the opera Simon Boccanegra.
We are honored to have contributed to such a significant initiative for the city of La Spezia.
Our barge Claudio I hosted the staging of the opera Simon Boccanegra, performed on June 19 and 20 in front of the Amerigo Vespucci, the famous Italian Navy training ship, moored at Molo Italia. Our barge was transformed into a true floating stage, accommodating over 200 musicians, singers, and performers, offering the audience a unique spectacle in a remarkable setting that combined culture, history, and maritime identity.
As noted by Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, Simon Boccanegra represents a deep connection to the city’s history: from the Doge who founded the Podesteria of La Spezia in 1343, to the Amerigo Vespucci, a symbol of Italy’s post-unification political choices and the Arsenal established by Cavour in 1862.
The opera, composed by Giuseppe Verdi, was part of the centennial celebrations of the Palio del Golfo, promoted by the Municipality of La Spezia, the Borgate Committee, and Italian Blue Growth.
The arrival of the Amerigo Vespucci in La Spezia, after a two-year world tour, marked a historic moment for the city: the ship returned home to enter the Arsenal and begin a maintenance period, concluding a long journey around the globe.
We thank the Italian Navy, Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, Councillor Patrizia Saccone, and the entire Municipal Administration for involving us in this important project, which fully expresses the value of collaboration between local institutions and businesses.
