LA SPEZIA: "WORLD CAPITAL" OF THE BLUE ECONOMY
La Spezia is the Italian province with the highest concentration of companies linked to the marine economy.
“The marine economy sector is constantly growing, and La Spezia confirms its leadership in national rankings.” Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini announced the data from the economic report by the Chamber of Commerce of the Ligurian Riviera: “The marine economy generates, in La Spezia, an added value of €1,145.3 million, confirming the city in third place in Italy. La Spezia is the leading Italian province in terms of the incidence of Blue Economy companies.”
“The province has moved from second to first place for the share of shipbuilding exports in total provincial exports. It remains third in Italy for the share of added value generated by the Blue Economy and fourth for the share of employment, with an increase from 12,183 to 14,411 employees. Finally, it ranks fifth in absolute value of shipbuilding exports, with €641.5 million.”
“La Spezia is recognized as a world capital of yachting and yacht design, being the creative and production hub of the most important yacht and superyacht brands in the world, with over 14,000 people employed in the Blue Economy. We continue to support this sector through projects such as the Miglio Blu.”
